Coach Faulkner joined Charlotte Latin in 1985 and during his tenure served as Athletic Director, physical education teacher, and coach for various teams. He most notably led the Hawks Boys' Basketball Program for 23 years before retiring in 2007. His Varsity Boys' Basketball teams posted records of 515 wins to 157 losses, earned five state championships, and had only one losing season.
Beyond wins and championships, his belief in teaching through life lessons and his emphasis on academics make a positive difference for young men and women participating in his programs. Recognized nationally for his coaching ability, Coach Faulkner was selected to coach the McDonald's All American Game East team in 2001. For more than 25 years, he spends part of his summer running the Woollen Gymnasium for the UNC Basketball Camp. Known as a great motivator, Coach Faulkner travels the country speaking for camps such as Nike and Prep Stars.
Jerry and his wife, Gail, live in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where he is in his third season as Head Basketball Coach at Hilton Head Preparatory School.
They have three children, Tara Faulkner McAlister '89, Amy Faulkner Sumner '92, and Charlie Morton '99.
