Bev Earle built the tennis program at Charlotte Latin, coaching Varsity Girls' and Varsity Boys' Tennis from September 1971 through June 1987. She led the Hawks boys' team to 10 state titles and the Hawks girls' team to eight state titles during her time at Latin. Coach Earle's personal playing record includes numerous junior titles, participation in prestigious national tournaments including the U.S. Open at Forest Hills, N.Y.; national rankings as high as No. 7 in women's doubles; a tennis scholarship to the University of Florida; and numerous Charlotte city titles and North Carolina state titles.

Bev also provided the Charlotte community with an excellent junior tennis program. Through her private lessons and teaching clinics Coach Earle created a veritable tennis factory that produced countless Division I collegiate tennis players. In 1983, Bev was inducted into the North Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame.

Bev and her husband, Fritz, live in Glade Valley, North Carolina. She has two children, Eric Cansler '82 (deceased) and Linda Cansler William '86.
