2025 Season Summary
By Coach Spero
The Spring 2025 season was a strong one for Latin MS Softball, finishing with a 6-6 record. The team welcomed five first-time players and showed impressive growth and teamwork throughout the season. Highlights included exciting comeback wins, strong communication on the field, and powerful offensive displays. Defensively, the team made major strides—executing smart throws, covering ground in the outfield, and staying locked in during pressure situations. Infielders handled tough plays with confidence and poise, and the team’s overall focus and effort often set the tone and kept games within reach. Lana Craig, Maisie Clifton, and Izzy Edwards were our top three hitters and helped the team by getting on base and bringing in runs. But every player made an impact—whether by making a key play, staying ready on the bench, or bringing energy and spirit from the dugout. The team’s loud, positive cheering and chanting made games more fun and gave us a boost when we needed it most. Everyone contributed to the season’s success, both on and off the field. Coaching this group of girls was truly a joy. Seeing everyone improve throughout the season brought a smile to my face and made this experience very rewarding.
2024 Season Summary
By Coach Dayton
The Charlotte Latin Middle School Softball program finished with a record of 4-5, sweeping the season’s series vs Charlotte Christian and Providence Day. The team also split the series with Cannon School and had strong showings vs Holy Trinity, Metrolina and Lake Norman Charter. Strong leadership from a talented and close-knit 8th grade group led the Hawks through early season adversity. Hannah Rankin pitched every inning but two, and was backed up in the field, at the plate, and on the base paths by fellow 8th graders Leela Rhodes, Harris Hollmeyer, Anna Edwards, and Ceci Clifton. A hard-working 7th and 6th grade roster of teammates also played significant roles and showed promise to return depth and experience next season.
2023 Season Summary
The 2023 Middle School Softball team had success in many ways this season beyond the scoreboard. Developing offensive and defensive depth throughout the roster was a preseason goal and the ladies didn't disappoint. Seventh graders

Emma Griggs, and
Harris Hollmeyer were all starters and led the team in multiple stat lines. Eighth grade leadership continued with

Jordan Ramesh both on the field and in the dugout. One of the year's highlights was the momentum of many games being swung back into the Hawks' favor by the energy and enthusiasm brought by
Clara Ragsdale, Izzy Edwards, &
Lexie Misocky. This team was very special and has laid the groundwork for continued success for softball at CLS.
2022 Season Summary
The 2022 Middle School Softball team fought for its best season in recent memory. Continuing to build on the success of 2021, this year's squad tallied a 10-3 record and a berth in the Top 4 of the MS Softball Conference Tournament. Our ladies overcame a 9-run deficit in the first round of the playoffs versus Lake Norman Charter to go on to win 13-9, earning a spot in the conference championship game vs Holy Trinity. Despite an early lead and a wonderful pitching performance by Avery Bly, the team was unable to hold off Holy Trinity and ultimately settled for a second place finish. There were many highlights from the year including, but not limited to, both Holden Gore and Avery Bly accounting for three home-runs and Avery's 2.85 ERA (60 innings pitched). Leadership from 8th graders Holden Gore, Avery Bly, Lindsey Boone, Ananya Banerjee, and Ramona Cigler lead the 2022 roster to an undefeated record versus Cannon, Providence Day, Charlotte Christian, Charlotte Country Day, Metrolina, and Covenant Day.

2020 Season Summary
The spring athletic season came to an abrupt end on Thursday, March 12, 2020, when the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association announced that all athletics events were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The impact of that decision on our spring student-athletes was top of mind for all involved and the athletic department, coaches, booster club, and parents worked together to keep our Hawks engaged and connected. Our Latin athletes ended their seasons in an unprecedented and unexpected way, but with a renewed appreciation for their sport, their teammates, and the many benefits of participating in Charlotte Latin Athletics.
