2026 Season
Season officially begins February 9
2025 Season Summary
By Coach Edwards
The Middle School Golf Team had another great season and finished with a record of 8-1. With twelve guys on the team, we had a deep reservoir of talent upon which we could draw in every match. We had four different players earn medalist honors for the low round in a given match over the course of the season, which speaks to our depth. Four players (Yates Harris, Adam Tucker, Hudson Doyle and Tripp Hallett) represented the team at the conference tournament. We finished second in that tournament led by Adam Tucker, who shared medalist honors after shooting a one-under 35 for the day. Overall, I was quite proud of how much the boys improved and how well they handled themselves on the course representing Charlotte Latin.
2024 Season Summary
By Coach Edwards
The Middle School Golf Team finished the season with an 8-1 record. We played well in the Conference Tournament, finishing in 2nd place out of eight teams. With twelve players on the team, we had a deep roster of talent. Everyone who competed this season contributed and helped us win those matches, with five individual Hawks finishing as medalist for different matches. The leadership of the five 8th graders on the team was excellent as they set a great example for the seven 7th graders. With the depth of talent coming back next year, the Middle School Golf Team is in a good position to have another great run next season.
2023 Season Summary
The Middle School golf team finished the season with a 7-3 record and a victory in the GCMSAA Conference Tournament match. Everyone on the team contributed to the success of the season and I was most impressed with the improvement shown across the board. The guys played with class and represented the school well. Our top four scorers for the season represented the team at the Conference Tournament. Those players were, in order,
Graham Wagner,
Will Moody,
McNair Beaver and
Rob Lesley. The four combined for a score of 166 and a victory over second-place Holy Trinity.
Will Moody earned medalist honors with a round of 34. We wish the 8th graders success next year on the varsity team and, with a strong batch of 7th graders, the future of the program is in good hands.
2022 Season Summary
The Middle School boys' golf team had quite the successful season. The team finished with an undefeated record, going 10-0, and won the Conference Tournament. This was the deepest MS boys' golf team in CLS history as seven players were within range of qualifying for the top four slots for the end of season tournament. Aston Lee finished the season with a stroke average of 35.8, the first player in CLS middle school boys' golf to finish the season averaging under par. All nine guys improved over the course of the season. It was so much fun to coach a team with such good guys that are also such good golfers. We wish our 8th grade golfers luck next year in high school and look forward to the return of our excellent core of 7th grade golfers.
2021 Season Summary
The middle school golf team had a phenomenal season. With a loaded roster of thirteen golfers, lots of guys had the opportunity to contribute to the team's success and a 7-3 winning record. The season highlight came with a huge victory over perennial conference powerhouse, Holy Trinity. In a match played at Renaissance Golf Club, Holy Trinity posted an impressive score of 150. Latin, however, shot a season low 149, sending shockwaves throughout the middle school golfing community. People are still talking about the poise and talent of the boys that played that day. The team benefitted throughout the season from strong leadership from the 8th graders, especially returning players Jay McCracken and Stuart Christhilf. The four lowest scoring averages all belonged to 7th graders this season so look out for the CLS middle school golf team next year, too!
2020 Season Summary
The spring athletic season came to an abrupt end on Thursday, March 12, 2020, when the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association announced that all athletics events were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The impact of that decision on our spring student-athletes was top of mind for all involved and the athletic department, coaches, booster club, and parents worked together to keep our Hawks engaged and connected. Our Latin athletes ended their seasons in an unprecedented and unexpected way, but with a renewed appreciation for their sport, their teammates, and the many benefits of participating in Charlotte Latin Athletics.
