2025 Season Summary
By Coach Bibby
The 2025 Junior Varsity Baseball Hawks completed the season with an overall record of 4 - 8. This included two dramatic comeback wins over Charlotte Country Day and Covenant Day. The team was composed of 8th, 9th, and 10th grade players that complemented each other all season long. This includes a stellar campaign by freshman pitcher Durham Teddy, who was second on the team in innings pitched (14.2 innings) while posting a team-leading ERA of 3.81.The rest of the pitching staff was ably rounded out by Peyton Booker and Sam Yin. Peyton Booker finished the year by hurling a complete game victory over Providence Day while also going two for three at the plate with a double and a triple. Offensively, the JV Hawks were led by Cole Teal who posted a batting average of .375 followed by Sam Yin and Barrett Hicks both posting a .310 average. Kolton Arnold deserves an honorable mention as he hit a team-leading three triples, and Barrett Hicks provided a steadying presence behind the dish. With a good nucleus of players from this team returning, coupled with a collection of strong rising 9th graders, we’re already looking forward to the spring 2026 season!

2023 Season Summary
We had a good season as evidenced by being in every game and competing to the final out regardless of who we were playing. Along the way, the team showed its true character and heart while also greatly improving as baseball players as the season went on. Throughout they remained positive and supportive, pulled for each other, and continued to be open to growth. Overall, they represented Charlotte Latin School with class and dignity even in the toughest and most trying moments of the season, and I couldn't be more proud.Â
2022 Season Summary
The JV baseball team continued its goal of providing the freshmen and sophomores with valuable game experience. Led by a new coaching staff this year, all of the Hawks showed remarkable individual improvement. Brayden Hampton, Jack Mosrie, Jack Bancroft, Hudson Shoup, Cameron Teal, Jackson Coble and James Peters all contributed greatly to the success of the varsity team as well when being called up. Andrew Kriessel continued to prove himself as a solid arm on the mound for the Hawks, while Cameron Teal and Jackson Coble showed themselves to be solid future prospects for the program. James Peters made a big leap forward in his development throwing mostly varsity innings. Base running this season was emphasized through a strong performance by Hudson Shoup on the base path. This team remained tough and responded to adversity well all season long!
2021 Season Summary
The goal of the JV baseball team is to provide opportunities for all the freshman and sophomores in the program to gain valuable game experience. The team tried to play one game a week during the season and finished with a record of 1-4. The Hawks improved dramatically during these games and were extremely competitive, especially in the conference matchups. John Dauska, Miles Miller, and Tommy Beason led the offense when they were able to swing down from the varsity team, and Andrew Kreissl developed into a solid pitching prospect for the future. The team always displayed a great attitude and enjoyed their opportunities to play. Way to go, Hawks!
2020 Season Summary
The spring athletic season came to an abrupt end on Thursday, March 12, 2020, when the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association announced that all athletics events were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The impact of that decision on our spring student-athletes was top of mind for all involved and the athletic department, coaches, booster club, and parents worked together to keep our Hawks engaged and connected. Our Latin athletes ended their seasons in an unprecedented and unexpected way, but with a renewed appreciation for their sport, their teammates, and the many benefits of participating in Charlotte Latin Athletics.
