2025 Season Summary
By Coach Cooke
The 2025 season was full of unforgettable moments, incredible growth, and a team that showed what it truly means to compete with heart and hustle. From day one, our players set the tone—grinding through long practices, pushing each other to be better, and forming a bond that carried us through every challenge we faced. Game after game, this team proved its toughness and resilience, notching a string of close wins that came down to the final pitch. Whether it was a clutch hit in extra innings, a diving catch in the outfield, or a lockdown performance on the mound, our players stepped up when it mattered most. A huge part of our success this season came from an outstanding senior class (Hudson Shoup, Avery Booker, Jack Bancroft, Brayden Hampton, Jackson Coble, Charlie Smith, Graham Blanton and Cameron Teal) that led with pride, character, and determination. Their leadership—both on and off the field—was the backbone of this team. They set the example for what it means to be a student-athlete at Charlotte Latin School, and they leave behind a legacy that younger players will look up to for years to come.
Overall Season Record: 18-6-1 2nd in CISAA Conference / NCISAA State Quarterfinals
2024 Season Summary
By Coach Cooke
The 2024 season was another big step forward for our baseball program led by an outstanding group of senior leaders in Tommy Beason, Andrew Kreissl, Jake Creamer, Sam Howard, Miles Miller and Jack Mosrie. Those seniors and other upperclassmen have really changed the culture of Charlotte Latin Baseball for years to come, showing the younger guys how to do things the right way, leading in the locker room and on the field, and caring and playing hard for your teammates. Offensively the Hawks were led by seniors Tommy Beason and Miles Miller and juniors Hudson Shoup and Avery Booker. Senior James Peters led the pitching staff this season with notable contributions from junior Graham Blanton as well as senior Jake Creamer. With lots of young talent on JV and Varsity, 2024-25 should be another exciting year for the Hawks.
2023 Season Summary
Your Hawks finished with a 4-16 record on the season but this young squad was competitive in every single game. With only one senior playing significant innings due to injuries, a ton of young players got valuable playing experience in some big games. Senior Ryan Sweet led the team offensively with a .275 batting average and logged 51 innings on the mound as well. Juniors Miles Miller and Tommy Beason alongside sophomore Avery Booker were also big offensively for the Hawks. On the mound, eight Hawks saw innings led by Sweet and juniors Andrew Kreissl, Jake Creamer and James Peters. The future looks bright as a ton of production from this year's team will return next season providing great leadership.
2022 Season Summary
What an incredible season it was! After a 2-7 start to the year the Hawks won 13 of their final 15 games which included a 9-game win streak at one point. The 15-9 overall record is one of the best seasons Charlotte Latin baseball has experienced in nearly 20 years. The culture was outstanding this season led by our four seniors Dave Mosrie, Max Rimler, Sam Lucas and Thomas Hullinger. Ryan Sweet had an incredible junior campaign leading our pitching staff going 7-1 with a 1.76 ERA and earning NCISAA All-State honors. The Hawks look to build off the momentum of this season with several younger starters returning from this year's squad.
2021 Season Summary
Spring of 2021 was the first full season under a new coaching regime and was a great stepping stone for Charlotte Latin Baseball. The Hawks achieved the program's first playoff victory since 2011 and 13 of 16 players will return next season. Once fully healthy, our team had a great stretch winning 5 in a row at one point including series sweeps of Covenant Day and Cannon School late in the year. We graduate three outstanding seniors who will each get a chance to play baseball at the next level: Sam House (Queens University), Christopher Ronek (Hampden-Sydney College), and Nathan Samii (Middlebury College). Those seniors, along with all the players, have really bought into a new coaching staff these last two years and have laid an outstanding foundation for the future of Charlotte Latin Baseball.
2020 Season Summary
The spring athletic season came to an abrupt end on Thursday, March 12, 2020, when the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association announced that all athletics events were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The impact of that decision on our spring student-athletes was top of mind for all involved and the athletic department, coaches, booster club, and parents worked together to keep our Hawks engaged and connected. Our Latin athletes ended their seasons in an unprecedented and unexpected way, but with a renewed appreciation for their sport, their teammates, and the many benefits of participating in Charlotte Latin Athletics.
