2024 Season Summary
By Coach Blas
Our Navy team made every moment count. Their open-mindedness to making changes and trying new roles is something that any coach would envy. Our Navy Players were 100% committed to each other and had each other's backs every point. One of the most memorable team moments: a comeback from being down 22-6 to win 25-22! That alone is nearly impossible at a middle school or PROFESSIONAL level. We are proud of them for being excellent humans on and off the court and are excited to see what they do next.
We coaches hope our players know that they are loved and valued for more than their athletic abilities. This year was especially special with 3 of our coaches getting to coach 2 teams, and we were especially thankful for the opportunity to do so. You wouldn’t believe the moments we had together unless you were there yourself, and we hope our players value those memories as much as we coaches do.
2023 Season Summary
The chemistry of the 8th Grade Hawks is something that teams of even the highest caliber struggle to achieve. The energy brought to every game was unmatched. Their love of the sport showed through every point of competition and every practice. We faced adversity with injuries and sickness, but our Hawks overcame adversity time and time again. They showed their strength by finishing our season with a phenomenal win at home against Lake Norman Charter, who was also our first loss of the season. Their open mindedness allowed for so much opportunity to grow their understanding of our sport. We coaches are so appreciative of their ability to adjust and try new things. We are thankful for the laughs, the memories, and for teaching us to be better coaches as well. We hope they keep learning, keep growing, and keep being great humans. Remember to be smart, take care of yourselves, and always stay on your feet.
2022 Season Summary
The 8th grade girls' volleyball team finished the season with a great battle in the playoffs and are excited for the future. This team started out with some work to do and minimal experience playing together. They improved so much as a team and in their individual skills, and it was incredible to watch. The support demonstrated by the group, along with the infectious positive support of our manager, Julian, is what really made the season so memorable. It is hard to select one match that stood out for this team because so many matches went to three sets where the team really pushed themselves and gave their best efforts. The theme for this year was “growth”, and not only did their skills improve significantly, but they became a strong unit through their friendship as teammates. As coaches, it was such a joy to watch. Go Hawks!
2021 Season Summary
8th grade volleyball had a terrific season! Their continued growth and development over the season was impressive. This team competed in every match we played in. We were led by super strong serving, passing and blocking. Not only did this team develop volleyball skills, they also understood the concept of teamwork and sportsmanship. Great job, volleyball Hawks!
2020 Season Summary
From Coach Fuller: "This year's team was a joy to coach and teach; we had a lot of fun watching them play. The team worked hard to learn a new system and each player improved throughout the course of the season, whether it was in serving, passing, hitting or overall knowledge of the game. They possessed a unique team chemistry that was very encouraging. The highlights of the season include a win over Providence Day School at home and the middle school program's first victory at Holy Trinity in many years." The team finished the season with a 2-5 record.
