Charlotte Latin JV Football

The Junior Varsity Football team is focused on skill development. The JV Hawks practice with the varsity team and are guided by the varsity coaching staff, building a strong relationship among the players, coaches and support staff. Charlotte Latin School’s code is “Honor Above All.” We believe that athletics provides the opportunity for many teachable moments of life’s lessons. In athletics, honoring yourself, your team, your opponent, officials and the game you play are qualities we encourage in our student-athletes every day.

2024 Season Summary
By Coach Dayton
The 2024 JV Football Hawks finished with a record of 4-3 and great wins vs Cannon, Covenant Day, Charlotte Country Day and Metrolina. This group showed a lot of promise and are looking forward to growing their roles in the program.

2023 Season Summary
The Latin JV Football team went 3-1 this season showing signs of great development and growth for the program.  A couple of games had to be cancelled or rescheduled due to player availability, but this adversity didn't deter these young men from competing at every opportunity. Often playing in all three phases and on Friday night varsity contests, this small but feisty roster chalked great wins vs Mountain Island Charter, Covenant Day, and Charlotte Country Day.  After varsity needs required some key players to move up, sophomores Dylan Mulligan, Ryan Marx, Griffin Donnelly, Na'il Diggs, Jacob Filipi, Hunter Loeffler, & Hudson Morrill stepped up playing pivotal roles in the success of the JV Football Hawks.  The program is also excited about the significant impact that freshmen Cooper Holland, Cayden Pribramsky, Will Morton, Mason Fitzhugh, Bryce Lapoint, Chase Curran, Patrick Cunningham, Cole Bradley, and Marco Templeton made this year.

2022 Season Summary
JV football split the season with four wins and four losses. The Hawks finished the season on a high note with a 28-21 victory away at Providence Day. This young team learned a lot and developed skills that they will continue to build on as some of them move up to varsity next year.

2021 Season Summary
Scheduling JV football games this season was very challenging. Probably because they were a good team! They finished the season with a nearly flawless record of 4-1! As a group, this team really cared for each other and held one another accountable. They worked hard, learned a lot, and several players had an opportunity to participate in the varsity games. That experience and the bond that these teammates formed will benefit the Latin football program for the next few years to come.

2020 Season Summary
From Coach Boone: "This year was very interesting dealing with COVID-19 guidelines and having players on and off campus but even with all the challenges we got better each week! The team had great leadership from our freshmen who were returners and a lot of unselfish acts from guys who were asked to play positions that they normally don't play for the better of our team and program! We didn't finish how we wanted but we are excited for those guys to take that hungry mentality into the weight room to gain strength, and into summer workouts, so they are ready to put a helmet on next fall!"
