2024 Season Summary
By Coach Dayton
The 2024 Varsity Football Hawks finished with a record of 8-3 and third place finish in the conference. An early signature win came vs Metrolina after a 36-hour weather delay and needing to score 21 points in the 4th quarter. A last second field goal by Holden Freno versus Charlotte Country Day as time expired was remembered by much of the team as their favorite moment of the season.  The Hawks offense caught fire this year and were highlighted by career highs from QB Troy Logan in passing completions (194), yards (2,385) and touchdowns (28), 618 rushing yards by senior Carson Clutter, and receptions and receiving yards by seniors Gavin Provencher (32, 425yd, 4 TDs) and Hudson Shoup (46, 470yds, 8 TDs). The defense as always was dependable and supported by Linebackers Myles Gathers, Dallas Chapman, and Matthew Flynn. The defensive backfield led by seniors Joe McGirt and Titus Ivory saw much improved pass defense with 8 and 5 interceptions respectively. The biggest improvement this year came up front with efforts led by seniors Asher Weiers, Tim Schwindt, and juniors Matthew Barber and Trent Barber. They held down the trenches on both the offensive and defensive lines. The conference coaches recognized these performances naming Troy Logan, Hudson Shoup, Gavin Provencher, Trent Barber, Dallas Chapman, and Myles Gathers second team all-conference, while Titus Ivory and Matthew Barber were awarded first team honors.

2023 Season Summary
The 2-8 record of this year's Varsity Football Hawks does not come close to telling the stories of success celebrated by this year's team. I have never been around a more determined, loyal, resilient group of young men in my 20 years coaching young people. Every week, this team came to work, but also knew how to have fun and inevitably left behind a legacy showing underclassmen what is needed to produce champions on and off the field. Great team wins came vs Carver High School out of Winston-Salem in front of a sold out Touchdown Tailgate crowd and a huge come-from-behind effort at Covenant Day School where the Hawks scored 21 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to seal the victory. The efforts of the 2023 season did not go unnoticed by the conference as 5 players were tabbed as All-Conference selections.  Seniors Thomas Lucas, Jordan Pence and Neil Salvage all earned honors, along with sophomore Myles Gathers and freshman Steele Fletcher.  The senior leadership of Aditiya Banerjee, Max Brumfield, John Dauska, Talbot Harris, Ben Hodge, Landon Lashley, Thomas Lucas, Jack Mosrie, Jordan Pence, and Neil Salvage will be missed, but their valuable lessons passed on to a very young and talented group will be seen in the win column for years to come.

2022 Season Summary
The 2022 Varsity Football team played with a lot of passion and grit. The Hawks had signature wins over Christ School and Country Day. Our 11 seniors showed that you don't have to be the biggest players to compete at the highest level. The Hawks were the 5th seed in the 2022 NCISAA Division I playoffs and hosted the first home playoff game since 2017. Led by team captains Caeden O'Neal, Tyler Hendley, Aaron Logan, and Jacob Snyder, the Hawks surpassed expectations and we are very proud of what they accomplished.

2021 Season Summary
The 2021 Varsity Football team had one of its best years in recent history, starting the season 7-0 and having a #1 NCISAA ranking going into week eight. The football team was picked last in the preseason conference polls, but competed every week and finished the season 8-3 and made the Division I playoffs. The Hawks were 5-0 at home this year and had signature wins over Charlotte Christian and Christ School. The team had a great group of seniors that worked very hard and led on and off the field. The coaching staff is incredibly proud of this team.

2020 Season Summary
The varsity football team felt the loss of having 14 seniors graduate in 2020, but this young Hawks team showed tremendous potential as they steadily learned, developed, and improved throughout the season. Although the team effort did not result in wins, there were many individuals recognized for their work. Senior Chase Montgomery and junior Daniel Haughton both earned 1st Team All-Conference and 2nd Team All-State honors for linebacker and wide receiver, respectively. Sophomore Aaron Logan was named a 2nd Team All-Conference linebacker and earned All-State Honorable Mention. Senior William McCabe (offensive line) and sophomore Sam Haines (running back) were selected as 2nd Team All-Conference. Coach Hardin said, "I'm proud of my guys. They put in the work this summer and all season, doing things the right way, following the safety protocols, and continuing to work hard even when things weren't going their way. They're learning, they're getting stronger, and they've got a bright future."
