2024 Season Summary
By Coach Staffieri
The 2024 Middle School Track and Field season consisted of athletes that had great determination, excellent skills in teamwork, and achieved personal growth. Athletes embraced challenges, broke records, and formed bonds that will continue beyond the final finish line. Our sprinters showed speed and excellence at every meet. From the explosive starts to the dramatic finishes, every race was a testament to their dedication and talent. Our mid/long distance runners exemplified the true essence of endurance, determination, and excellence. From the first stride to the final stretch, these athletes showcased unparalleled commitment. Our field events included shot put, discus, long jump and high jump. Most of these athletes had never done a field event and several surprised us when they often scored us the most points in their event for our team. Beyond individual achievements, the true essence of the season was embodied in the camaraderie of the team. Athletes lifted each other up, celebrated successes, and offered support in times of struggle. From the seasoned veterans to the rookies finding their footing, everyone played a vital role in the team's success. The legacy of this season has taught our track and field athletes to reach for the stars.
2023 Season Summary
The Middle School track team was comprised of some seasoned athletes who were continuing to build on their success in their specific events, and many who were new to the team looking to understand the fundamentals of track & field while identifying their strengths and most relevant skills for optimal success. The group dynamic was one of inclusion and the more experienced members stepped up to mentor and lead the group with enthusiasm and confidence. It was a great season with a variety of success stories along the way. The coaching staff was very pleased with the positivity and goodwill that was the overriding mindset of the team as a whole. There were well-deserved wins and many PR’s to be had throughout the season with a great final performance at the championship meet. Congratulations to all!
2022 Season Summary
I was really excited coming into this season. We almost doubled in size from last season, which gave us lots of options to work with this year. There were so many great performances, both team and individual. I was extremely proud of how the team soaked in all the information that was taught throughout the year and transformed in to a well-rounded team. It was a very young team, so I'm looking forward to what the future brings for next year!
2021 Season Summary
There's a lot I could say about this team. They worked hard, they were willing to learn new things and they pushed themselves to get better. It was very rewarding watching them develop into a real team. There are many events that I could mention, but one of the groups that really improved was our 4x100 relay team who improved by over 4 seconds from the beginning of the season to the end, setting a new middle school record in that event. Also I want to mention our girls team that consisted of 6 girls but you would never know it because they all held their own against teams that were much larger and in most cases more experienced. Our middle distance girls were dominant the whole season. Together they ran stride for stride, supporting and pushing one another. Again, I can go on and on about each individual athlete but the thing that I'm most proud of as a coach is how much praise I got from opposing teams about how polite and respectful our team was. I'm looking forward to watching this group grow over the next few years.

2020 Season Summary
The spring athletic season came to an abrupt end on Thursday, March 12, 2020, when the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association announced that all athletics events were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The impact of that decision on our spring student-athletes was top of mind for all involved and the athletic department, coaches, booster club, and parents worked together to keep our Hawks engaged and connected. Our Latin athletes ended their seasons in an unprecedented and unexpected way, but with a renewed appreciation for their sport, their teammates, and the many benefits of participating in Charlotte Latin Athletics.
