Charlotte Latin MS Girls Soccer
2026 Season
Season officially begins February 9
2025 Season Summary
By Coach Spraul
This team did a fantastic job of finishing out every game. Each of ourĀ girls consistently gave their best effort - all the way to the end of each game. Just about everybody got to play multiple positions throughout the season, and the girls were really moving the ball well by the end of the year. We grew together as a team and picked up some excellent away results at places where we had struggled to play well in the past. Thank you for a great and FUN season!
2024 Season Summary
By Coach Spraul
Middle School Girlsā Soccer had a young team this season, but these girls showed up committed to getting better every day and they earned a 3-game win streak in the middle of the season! Whether playing through adverse weather conditions or coming from behind to pick up a win, some of the toughest moments really brought out the best in this group. The energy that each of our girls brought made the whole team better, and it was awesome to see crowds of family, faculty, and staff coming out to support us, too! We will miss our 8th graders moving on, and hope to see our 7th graders back out again next year!
2023 Season Summary
We had a special group of girls this season, and they came up with some incredible moments! We had no shortage of amazing plays including a game-winning goal in the last few seconds, many goal-saving tackles, free kicks from distance, and team combinations into beautiful goals. Our games were a lot of fun to watch! What stands out to me the most this year is how well our girls grew together as a group and supported each other throughout the season. Our girls were always looking out for each other and offering a helping handĀ or a hug when someone was having a tough day.Ā We finished as runners-up in the conference this season, which is a significant improvement from last year. We recorded 7 shutouts, and even picked up 4 away wins! We hope to see our 7th graders out again next season! We will miss our 8th grade squad, and wish them the best as they move up!
2022 Season Summary
The growth that we saw in our team throughout this season was really fantastic! It was a lot of fun to watch our girls who were hesitant to take players on early in the season fearlessly going at defenders time and again in our final games. We asked every player to play at least 2 different positions throughout the season, and each of our girls really stepped up and gave it their best, even if they were playing in a role way out of their comfort zone. Our girls did a wonderful job supporting and encouraging each other, working back to cover for any mistakes, and bringing their best for our team in practice and in games. Our team captains Kate Wagner and Marisol Wickham were excellent leaders and cared for their team so well. We had a lot of 7th graders this year, so we're looking forward to continuing to build next season. Thank you to our 8th graders for all that you've put into the soccer program! We will miss you but are excited to see your success at the next level!
2021 Season Summary
The Hawks had a strong season, finishing with a record of 6-2-2. With 26 goals scored, we proved to be an offensive threat with a strong central midfield that dominated play. The majority of these goals were scored by captain Eleanor Fisher, who 12 balls in the net. Newcomer Claire Zhang scored 6 and combined with the steady, dominant play of captain Maggie Hyder in the defensive midfield. These three created a force which gave defenders fits. In total, 8 different players found the back of the net this season which was a testament to how hard they worked in practice. Conceding only 14 goals, we were stingy with denying other teams opportunities in the box. Addie Hull, captain Camille Becker, Caroline Fahrney and Wallace Roberts led a united defensive front who worked together very well. Keeper Drue Amin had one clean sheet this season and kept this team in many tight games as we had some strong opponents shooting from all angles. Overall, the future is bright for the Latin Hawks soccer program as we have thirteen seventh graders returning to take the lead next season. We wish our outgoing eighth grade class lots of luck and future success on the pitch for years to come!
2020 Season Summary
The spring athletic season came to an abrupt end on Thursday, March 12, 2020, when the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association announced that all athletics events were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The impact of that decision on our spring student-athletes was top of mind for all involved and the athletic department, coaches, booster club, and parents worked together to keep our Hawks engaged and connected. Our Latin athletes ended their seasons in an unprecedented and unexpected way, but with a renewed appreciation for their sport, their teammates, and the many benefits of participating in Charlotte Latin Athletics.
