CISAA Champions & NCISAA Runners-Up! Volleyball finishes season 29-2

Varsity volleyball completed the regular season with a record of 27-1 to decisively claim the title of CISAA Conference Champions for the first time since 2012. The team's only regular-season loss came on the road at conference rival Country Day in September, but the Hawks redeemed themselves with a 3-0 victory when they hosted the Bucs in October, and they only dropped 11 sets the entire regular season. Senior Allie Haynie surpassed the 750 career kills milestone in early September, and finished the regular season with 315. Senior Emily Cao surpassed the 1500 career assists milestone on October 6th, including nearly 900 this season going into the playoffs. She was selected as the CISAA Conference Player of the Year, earning 1st Team All-Conference honors along with Allie Haynie, junior Ava Nadeau, and sophomore Ryan Burrell. Senior Scarlett Black was recognized as CISAA 2nd Team All-Conference.

The Hawks were the top-ranked 4A team going into the NCISAA State Playoffs. With a first round bye, they defeated Providence Day 3-0 in the quarterfinals, then took down the Bucs 3-0 in the semifinals to advance to the championship. There, they faced North Raleigh Christian Academy on Saturday, October 25th. The game was played at Carmel Christian School as a neutral site, and the stands were packed with Charlotte Latin fans. The atmosphere was electric and although the Hawks trailed initially, they fought back to claim the second set. It was back-and-forth after that, with impressive plays on both sides of the net. Ultimately, the NRCA Knights had the edge and claimed the title in four sets:
S1 S2 S3 S4 WINS
Charlotte Latin 19 27 21 21 1
NRCA 25 25 25 25 3

The second place finish earns Charlotte Latin 45 points toward the Wells Fargo Cup and is the program's highest finish since winning the title in 2012. Three players were named to the NCISAA All-State Team: sophomore Ryan Burrell and seniors Allie Haynie and Emily Cao. Congratulations to the entire team and coaching staff and thank you for an incredible season!
