Coach Dayton played defensive back for Wake Forest University, where he earned a degree in political science before moving into coaching. He joined the Latin coaching staff in 2018 as the defensive coordinator for varsity football, and moved into the head coach position for the 2023 season. Dayton previously coached football at UNC Charlotte, Duke University, and Lenoir-Rhyne University. He is also an assistant coach for the middle school softball team and teaches physical education. The CLS Booster Club selected him as the Middle School Coach of the Year in 2022 when he served as the head coach of the MS softball team. Dayton and his wife, Laura, have a daughter and two sons.
