Charlotte Latin School

Coach Smith joined the Charlotte Latin girls’ lacrosse program in 2019, bringing more than 25 years of experience as a player, coach, and educator. A former high school and collegiate player, he competed at the University of Maryland and later earned a Master’s degree in Education from Wingate University.  He coached at the NCAA level from 2005 to 2013, winning two NCAA conference tournament championships in men’s lacrosse in 2007 and 2008, and has coached at the high school level since 2014, including varsity boys’ lacrosse from 2019 to 2023. Coach Smith is known for his emphasis on fundamentals, leadership, and player development.  In addition to coaching, Coach Smith works as a physical education teacher with Union County Public Schools. He is a parent of Charlotte Latin students and the spouse of Latin staff member Lucy Smith, a college counselor, and lives in the Charlotte area with their daughters, Aleena and Sophia.
