John Fitch played basketball at Appalachian State University before coaching at South Mecklenburg High School, where he was the head basketball coach from 2009 – 2020 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021. He joined the Latin coaching staff in the 2020-2021 season as an assistant in the both the boys' basketball and boys' golf programs.
