2025 Season Summary
By Coach Wims
The 2025 Charlotte Latin boys’ lacrosse team finished the season with a 12-8 record, capturing its first CISAA Conference Championship since 2015 while showcasing a strong blend of talent, resilience, and teamwork. Individual recognition reflected the team’s success, with six players earning All-Conference honors. On the First Team CISAA, Dylan Mulligan and Phillip Hullinger led the way with standout seasons. Hullinger’s all-around dominance earned him the CISAA Player of the Year award. Four players earned Second Team CISAA honors: Hayden Gotttehrer, Knox Hutcheson, Banks Cutter, and Jack Hall — each making significant contributions throughout the year. At the state level, Phillip Hullinger and Dylan Mulligan were both named All-State, further cementing their status as two of North Carolina’s top players. A significant milestone was achieved by four players — Dylan Mulligan, Banks Cutter, Jack Hall, and Phillip Hullinger — who each joined the 100-Point Club during the season. Will Robelen, already a member, continued to add to his impressive career totals. Bo Ughetta played a vital role at the face-off X in gaining possession and controlling the tempo. The 2025 Charlotte Latin boys’ lacrosse team was led by a great group of seniors who undoubtedly put Latin lacrosse back amongst the state's best, and their impact will be felt in years to come. Overall Season Record: 12-8 1st in CISAA Conference / NCISAA State Quarterfinals

2024 Season Summary
By Coach Wims
The Hawks played a very competitive season, with ten games decided by three goals or less. The season opener against Fort Mill started that trend with a 9-8 overtime win. The season-high in goals and point scorers came in the last home game against North Raleigh Christian Academy, with 12 players registering at least 1 point for 22 goals in the NCISAA first-round playoff game. Our top offensive performers for the season were Banks Cutter (36 goals & 16 assists), Dylan Mulligan (30 goals & 13 assists), Phillip Hullinger (27 goals & 11 assists), and Will Robelen (27 goals & 10 assists). Davis Hord led the defense in goal, finishing with 194 saves, and Knox Hutcheson on close defense with 30 caused turnovers and 53 ground balls. Murphy Tye and Hayden Gottehrer also caused 15 and 14 turnovers, respectively, on the defensive side.

2023 Season Summary
The Boys’ Lacrosse program was led by Dick Sipperly, in his final year of coaching the Hawks since taking over the program in 2004, achieving five state championships during his tenure. Coach Sipperly's report on his final season: Early in the season, we try to get a good mix of solid teams to compete with while we build confidence and chemistry. We did that through the first 8 games, going 6 - 2. The trip to Savannah solidified the team’s chemistry; the boys had a great time together and developed a strong bond as a group. My favorite game, and one I will always remember, was our last regular season home game against a big, athletic Rabun Gap team. I thought our team came together and left everything on the field. There was a true desire, they had the spirit, energy and emotion that I looked for all season. The second Rabun Gap game was also a lot of fun – winning a playoff game is always nice and it was our first one in several years. We took some lumps this season, but what makes me happiest is hearing a player say, “This was the most fun season I have ever had,” and “I’m so glad I played. These guys are awesome.”  Being a leader of a group that loves each other is so much fun and it is a good way to go out as I head into retirement!

2022 Season Summary
At the beginning of the season, we spoke of the Native Americans from whom the game of lacrosse originated and spoke of the "Creators Game." The game was used to heal the sick and solve disputes among clans. The Creator looked upon those who play as strong warriors. A quote we spoke of was from an Onondaga elder who said, "We have lost a lot of games but we have never been beaten." This season reflected some of that sentiment, we did lose a lot of games but the team fought and were never beaten. We played hard for 48 minutes each game, we represented our families and school well. This was one of my favorite groups to coach, we all love each other no matter of grade or position. We played for each other. Hopefully everyone can come out of the season loving lacrosse for what it is, the game the "Creator" has given us to test our strength, courage, endurance, skill, toughness, teamwork and, most importantly, for the opportunity to play this wonderful game.

2021 Season Summary
The 2021 lacrosse season was very special, in spite of many challenges. We had a wide variety of players, with very different levels of experience. The Hawks started with four good wins over weaker competition that certainly built team confidence. We practiced hard and became close as a team, but as conference games began, we ran into stiff competition. With an overall record of 7-9, but a CISAA Conference record of 2-6, we didn't always get the results we wanted but the team always played to the last whistle, never got down on each other, and built a cohesive group. All in all, it was a very successful year that culminated with a very strong game against Country Day in the NCISAA playoffs. I'm very proud of the boys and wish the best to all of our seniors as they head off to college.

2020 Season Summary
The spring athletic season came to an abrupt end on Thursday, March 12, 2020, when the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association announced that all athletics events were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The impact of that decision on our spring student-athletes was top of mind for all involved and the athletic department, coaches, booster club, and parents worked together to keep our Hawks engaged and connected. Our Latin athletes ended their seasons in an unprecedented and unexpected way, but with a renewed appreciation for their sport, their teammates, and the many benefits of participating in Charlotte Latin Athletics.
