Season officially begins October 27

2024 - 2025 Season Summary
By Coach Mack
The Charlotte Latin varsity girls’ basketball team wrapped up an extraordinary season. They shattered expectations and finished with a commendable 17-9 record in non-conference play and a 5-5 record in conference matchups. From the first tip-off to the final game, this team proved that heart, teamwork, and trust can create something truly special. Not only did they deliver on the court with their determination and toughness, they also set a shining example of what a united team looks like. They all had mutual respect and love for one another, their coaches, and the program as a whole. Their bond and resilience became the foundation for their success, with each player contributing and lifting each other up in key moments. The season wasn’t just about winning games; it was about building momentum for the future. This group of girls established a competitive culture which sets the tone for continued growth and achievement in upcoming seasons. Their inspiring season leaves a lasting impact, showcasing that anything is possible when a team believes in each other. Special shoutout to Charlotte Tune for being selected to the CISAA First Team All-Conference. She led the team in scoring at 15.5 ppg and also hit her 1000th career point this season. Lanie Edwards was second in scoring at 13.3 ppg and led the team in rebounds at 5.0 per game. Congratulations to the team, the coaching staff, and everyone who contributed to an unforgettable chapter of Charlotte Latin Girls basketball. The future is bright! The most memorable win was beating country day on lower school night. We had lost to them earlier in conference play at their place and it was actually their lower school night. It was so close and we lost a nail bitter. So playing them again at home and beating them convincingly was a good feeling for the girls and the coaching staff! Wallace Roberts has an amazing game, she really kept us alive early on. Charlotte was clutch down the stretch and Lanie Edwards hit some timely free throws for us to seal the win!

2020 - 2021 Season Summary
By Coach Jeff Buseick
The varsity girls' basketball team finished the season with an overall record of 7-13 and a CISAA conference record of 3-7. The Hawks earned the #5 seed in the NCISAA state tournament but fell just three points short against Charlotte Christian (#4) in a hard-fought game. The team faced and overcame many challenges; from navigating school and athletics during a pandemic, training and competing in masks, creating new relationships and/or restoring old ones, to overcoming pauses and scheduling uncertainty. Through it all they worked hard, never complained, worked together, enjoyed each other, and competed. They also pulled off two exciting buzzer-beater victories; Mary Schleusner rebounded and sank a baseline turnaround as time expired vs. Covenant Day to seal a 49-48 victory, and Maddie Shannon rebounded her own miss vs. Charlotte Christian to hit a paint pull for a 42-41 victory.
