2024 Season Summary
By Joey Prestidge
Captains Stella Burke and Reese Morgan, along with Vice Captain Madeline Miles helped lead the Hawks to a CISAA finish of 4-2, coming in 2nd place. The Hawks ended their season losing in the semifinal to CCDS as the NCISAA 3rd seed. These girls are as happy and close a unit as I’ve ever coached. They love each other and they believe in each other. We’re a pretty young Varsity team, and we’ve had our ups and downs - but we play exciting hockey and had a huge end to the season, winning five on the bounce and beating all our conference rivals, to come into the playoffs firing on all cylinders. Tight semifinal at CCDS to which the scoreline does no justice. All-Conference honorees: 1st team - Margaret Piasecki, Stella Burke, Marion DuBose, Ana Grace Fahrney; 2nd Team - Reese Morgan, Charlotte Tune. All-State honorees - Not yet known. Stella Burke top scorer with 14 goals.

2023 Season Summary
We had a goal this year to win the State Championship together, and a focus on being active - active on ball, active off ball, active in team defense, active in practice, and active on the sideline. This year's seniors are a special group; having joined Varsity during COVID, they've been together through thick and thin, and have worked really hard to get to where they are today – earning the #2 seed in the. Led by those seniors, and our captaincy unit of Vice Captains Ellé Collier and Alicia Edwards, plus our Captain Kadence Johnson, the team has navigated a challenging season majestically. The year has seen results that the Hawks haven't seen in a while, including a victory over Myers Park, away wins at Charlotte Catholic, PD and Covenant Day, to name but a few. The team amassed 66 goals, on its way to an official 14 and 6 record, plus 5 scrimmage victories, with 10 goals or more coming from each grade represented on this exciting roster.  A roster that also looks fantastically bright for the years ahead.

2022 Season Summary
The Hawks Varsity Field Hockey team enjoyed a great season, and although a State Semi Final overtime defeat is always heartbreaking, the girls can hold their heads high for everything they achieved together.  Highlights include supporting and coaching the MS teams, regular season wins over Covenant Day and both Cary Schools, home and away conference victories vs Country Day, beating Catholic, and pushing State Seed #1 Myers Park into OT early in the season - then going to the wire against them again later in the season.  The team focused on being Active, Brave and Confident - ABC - something that helped them start games aggressively, work hard off-ball for each other, and have the belief and support to know they can take risks shooting and eliminating.  Our Captains and seniors led the team with unity, and as sad as we are to see the conclusion of their hockey careers, we are proud and so excited to see what comes next for all of them.

2021 Season Summary
This field hockey program has had a fantastic year, spearheaded as ever, by its excellent varsity squad. Although falling in the Final Four is a heartbreaker for any team, I am immensely proud of what these girls have achieved. A record of 16-7 with 77 goals for and 17 against speaks to how well we have played, and how tight the games were, even when we didn't win. I feel blessed that my first year as program head has been filled with such remarkable personalities and talented athletes. We attack as a unit, and the energy on and off the field is one of complete togetherness. Throughout the season we have focused on self-belief, support and courage. I have no doubt that these athletes will embody those qualities to huge success in their years to come.
As heartbreaking and bittersweet as it will be for me to see our current seniors continue their journeys into the world outside of Latin, with 8th grade and JV having such incredible seasons, it's an exciting consolation to see how bright the future looks for us. And of course, that is in no small part inspired by the great example our current seniors have set through their commitment to our program over the years.
