Charlotte Latin claimed the NCISAA Division I Girls' Lacrosse title in dominant fashion on Saturday, May 20, 2023. The Hawks defeated the Providence Day Chargers 18-3 on Latin's home turf on the Levine Athletic Campus. It's the fourth consecutive championship for the program, which first won in 2019 in a 17-8 final victory over Ravenscroft. No state tournament was held in 2020 due to the Covid 19 pandemic, but the Hawks returned to win in 2021 (defeating Charlotte Country Day 18-12) and again in 2022 (defeating Country Day 18-4).
The Hawks's scoring was well-distributed. The first seven goals were scored by seven different players. Ultimately, Evie McMahan, Crawford Fisher, Reese Morgan, and Lea Troutman had three goals each, with Riley Milligan and Ardyn Henry adding two goals apiece, and Eleanor Poole and Addie Barlow both scoring once.
Overall this season, junior Evie McMahan led the team in goals with an impressive 110 scores this season, and an additional 40 assists. Junior Ardyn Henry was the second most prolific scorer with 58 goals, and also gave the Hawks a significant advantage with 216 draw possessions. Sophomore Riley Milligan led the team in assists with 65, junior Natalie Massardo caused 27 turnovers, and junior Ellé Collier had 151 saves in goal. Nine Hawks were named CISAA All-Conference and six were selected as NCISAA All-State. Evie McMahan was chosen as the CISAA Player of the Year. Congratulations to all the players and coaches on a fantastic season!
