The Varsity Boys' Swimming team won its fourth consecutive NCISAA Division I Swimming Championship on February 13, 2023. It's the tenth state title for the program in the last eleven years, and the nineteenth overall for the program.
The Hawks kicked off the finals session with a dominant win in the 200 medley relay, in an All-American time of 1:32.79.
Zachary Spicer (backstroke),
Norvy Clontz (breaststroke),
Aidan Hill (butterfly, and
Wiley Spinner (freestyle) established a new meet record by nearly a second, and a new Charlotte Latin record by more than two seconds. In the next event,
Norvy Clontz and
Wiley Spinner swept the 200 freestyle, both earning All-American consideration, and junior
Gabe Piscitelli finished seventh. Clontz's time of 1:38.55 eclipsed his own school record of 1:40.21 set at the 2022 NCISAA championship.
The records kept falling as
Aidan Hill won the 100 butterfly in an All-American time of 48.69 to break the Latin school record of 49.58 set by Ikenna Eruchalu in 2016.
James Harper claimed the next record, finishing third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 45.81 to take down the long-standing CLS record of 46.09 set by Charlie Higgins in 2008. Junior
Zachary Spicer followed suit in the 100 backstroke, placing third with the All-American consideration time of 50.13 and shaving .02 off the Latin school record set by Collin Higgins in 2010. Clontz continued to set the bar in the 500 freestyle, winning the event in an All-American time of 4:26.44 and lowering the Latin school record for the third time in two seasons. The 200 freestyle relay of
Aidan Hill,
Bryce Spangler,
Gabe Piscitelli, and
James Harper placed second and bettered the Latin record set in 2021 by Hill, Kwame Thornhill, Stephen Kim, and Ethan Bershad.
The Hawks closed out the meet with yet another dominant relay performance. The 400 freestyle relay of Spinner, Harper, Spicer, and Clontz turned in an All-American time of 3:05.18 to break the previous NCISAA and Latin school record of 3:08.42 set by the Hawks last year.

Harrison Short,
Ryan Kim,
Thomas Hamilton, and
